How Does Simparica Chewable Work?
Simparica Chews contains sarolaner as its active ingredient. After administration, the chews release this active ingredient into the dog's bloodstream. The formula is distributed to tissue fluids under the dog's skin. As soon as parasites take the blood meal from the treated dog, they ingest sarolaner. The formula interferes with the nervous system of fleas and ticks, causing an uncontrolled influx of nervous transmission and killing them.
A laboratory study referred to in the product label suggests that Simparica begins killing fleas 3 hours after the initial administration. It reduces the number of active fleas by more than 95% within 8 hours after flea infestation and demonstrates 100% efficacy against adult fleas 24 hours post-treatment.
