How Does Revolution Topical Solution for Cats Work?

Revolution contains selamectin as its active ingredient. After application, the topical solution enters the cat's bloodstream through the skin. The concentrations of selamectin in the blood and tissues protect against internal parasites. The active formula selectively redistributes from the blood to the cat's skin. This helps it protect against other common external parasites.

Selamectin in the Revolution kills >98% of adult fleas within 24 hours after treatment and >99% of them within 48 hours. The formula prevents heartworm disease and Heartworm Associated Respiratory Disease (HARD). A single topical dose treats and controls intestinal hookworm (A. tubaeforme) and roundworm (T. cati) infections.

• Weigh your cat to select the suitable dosage for your cat.
• Take the applicator tube out of the pack.
• Puncture the seal of the tube by firmly pressing the cap down. A clicking sound will confirm that the seal is punctured.
• Remove the cap and see whether the tip of the applicator tube is open.
• Part the hair until the skin is visible on the cat's back at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades.
• Place the tip of the tube on the cat's skin and squeeze it multiple times onto the skin in one spot to empty it.
• Drag the tube away from the liquid, keeping it squeezed, and lift it to remove, ensuring that it is empty.
• Avoid massaging the liquid into the skin after application.
• For heartworm prevention, administer it year-round. It may be administered at least within one month after the cat's first exposure to mosquitoes and monthly afterwards until the end of the mosquito season. Administer the final dose within one month after the cat’s last exposure to mosquitoes.

Revolution Dosing Guide:

Revolution is not indicated for use in humans. You should keep these topical products out of the reach of children, uninformed people and pets. Do not allow children or anyone to come in contact with the application site until four hours after the application. Individuals with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient should consult their healthcare professional before applying it to a cat. Do not use it on sick, debilitated or underweight cats.

This is a flammable product. Keep it away from heat, sparks, open flames or other sources of ignition. Revolution can be used in pregnant, breeding and lactating cats. It is safe for use in heartworm-positive cats.

Before administration, test your cats for existing heartworm infections and treat infected cats to remove adult heartworms at the discretion of the veterinarian. Clinical studies suggest that Revolution can be used with veterinary treatments, including vaccines, anthelmintics, antiparasitics, antibiotics, steroids, collars, dips and shampoos.
